How to Install GB WhatsApp APK on Android (Step by Step)
Installing an APK is easy once you know where Android hides the right switch. This guide walks you through the whole process, from backup to your first message.
Before you start
- Android 5.0 or newer and about 300 MB of free space (the APK is 136 MB).
- Your phone number, able to receive an SMS or call.
- A fresh local backup if you already use WhatsApp on this number.
Step 1: Back up your existing chats
Open official WhatsApp, tap the three dots, then Settings, Chats, Chat backup, and tap Back up. GB WhatsApp restores from the local backup stored in your phone's Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Databases folder, not from Google Drive.
Step 2: Download the APK
Go to our download page and tap the button. Accept the browser warning and wait for the full download to finish.
Step 3: Allow installs from unknown sources
Modern Android asks per app. When you tap the APK, a prompt appears. Tap Settings and enable Allow from this source. Where to find it manually:
- Samsung (One UI): Settings, Apps, the three dot menu, Special access, Install unknown apps.
- Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO: Settings, Privacy protection or Additional settings, Special permissions, Install unknown apps.
- Stock Android / Pixel: Settings, Apps, Special app access, Install unknown apps.
- Android 7 and older: Settings, Security, Unknown sources.
Step 4: Install
Return to the APK and tap Install. If Play Protect shows a warning, tap More details and then Install anyway only if you are comfortable with the source.
Step 5: Verify and restore
Open the app, agree to the terms, enter your number and the code. GB WhatsApp looks for a local backup and offers to restore it. Tap Restore and wait.
Common install errors
- App not installed: not enough storage, or a conflicting older build. Free space or uninstall the older build after backing up.
- There was a problem parsing the package: the download is incomplete. Delete it and download again.
- Blocked by Play Protect: choose Install anyway or temporarily pause scanning in Play Store settings.
